tivoli (DV-cam, 8 min., loop) 2004.


single-channel video taking place in the very early morning hours in n the closed "Schmidt's tivoli" at reeperbahn in hamburg. a lingering tracking shot travels around the streets of the closed amusement park, simultaneously observing the beautiful morning but also a strangely claustrophobic atmosphere. Since the tivoli's normal function is to be full of happy, partying people, the video shows the empty feeling of the dead party. in front of the travelling camera, a flock of doves keep on taking off and landing again again as they hypnotically lure us further into the tivoli's labyrinth.
