danskeren (the dane) is a film which seeks to critically discuss the idea of the nation of denmark; what defines a nation and what is the national character of the "dane"? in the fragmented reality of contemporary life, the question is becoming increasingly difficult to answer, and the film also poses more questions than answers. employing a fragmented, associative display of emotive scenes and images, a mood of restlessness and depression is captured, in a population which seems only to have a meaningless war in common.
